As always, the Annual "This Runs for Jack" will be a bittersweet day for our family. We come together to remember the amazing people we have lost to this terrible disease, especially our Mom, (& Grammie, Wife, Sister, Aunt) Roberta Rudolph & Grandfather Bob Krueger. We support those who are still fighting the good fight and celebrate those who are cancer free.
Over the past 3 years since she's been gone a day hasn't gone by without me thinking about my mom - the extraordinary person she was and her unwavering positivity. Her fight with metastatic melanoma was a harrowing 18 months but she still managed to find things to smile about and remind those around her that "Life is good." We are all grateful for every day we had with her and know she is smiling down on us.
I am so thankful that with early detection and continued surveillance I celebrated 5 years melanoma free last month. The occasion was marked with tears of joy for the milestone and tears of grief that the person I most wanted to share the news with isn't a phone call away anymore. Berta was the first call I made after hearing the terrifying news that it was melanoma and when they called to say they got it all out, she was the first person to know and began celebrating right there on the phone. She was everyone's biggest cheerleader.
Breakthroughs in research are giving hope for the future. Education and early detection have the power to saves lives. We are raising funds for TRFJ because it makes a difference and hope you will join us with your support.
