NEW YORK CITY MARATHON 2022

I am excited to announce that I am joining Jack's Team and will be running in the 2022 NYC Marathon. The Jack H Marston || Cancer Research Fund mission is to fund research and provide awareness programs (early detection saves lives) that makes a real difference... and we challenge you to be apart of it!

Running has become a recent passion of mine - growing up I never found running to be enjoyable, nor did I ever think I'd be able to get these legs to run 26 miles. Over the past few years I slowly jumped into it, met and became involved with a community of runners that opened my eyes to why they run. At first I just ran as fast I could to get from point A to point B (to be done with it), but slowly & surely I found my why. I run because it's truly the only time I feel clarity; with so many external stressors, pressures, and craziness in the world it's the only time I feel in control. Most of the runs I do are without headphones (crazy, I know), but this is the time I dedicate to myself to: reflect, think of friends & family, recap my day, plan out my day, and conquer any obstacle.

I had the privilege to play football at Marist College with Mike & Jack Marston where I was first introduced to Jack's Fund. Hearing their story and seeing the raw emotion they'd get from guys on our team supporting, & buying into their families charity has touched me over the years. Since I started my running journey I knew this was going to be the charity that I wanted to represent, support, & elevate - a family fund seeking to help other families.

If you or someone you know has had precancerous cells or have melanoma, you already know. If you have been fortunate so far, let me explain why Jack's Fund needs your donation.

  • Melanoma is a very serious form of skin cancer. Although accounting for only 4% of total skin cancer cases, melanoma is the leading cause of skin cancer related deaths.
  • Melanoma is the second most common cancer for young adults ages 15-29.
  • The risk of being diagnosed with melanoma doubles with five or more sunburns at any age, and exposure to tanning beds in youth increases that risk by 75%.
  • The risk of developing melanoma is increasing and most frighteningly, the cases of melanoma among young children are on the rise.

Since the risk of melanoma effects or has affected each and every one of us, the work that Jack's Fund is doing to increase research funding and to develop awareness programs is so important.

As partners in this fight, I will do my part and keep you informed about my training and running the NYC Marathon with Jack's Team.

Just a small donation will go a long way to helping me meet my fundraising goal for Jack's Fund.

  • $30 = the rates of melanoma have been rising for the last 30 years.
  • $54 = One person dies every 54 minutes from melanoma.
  • $100.35 = 100,350 new cases of melanoma will be diagnosed in the US in 2022.
  • $250 = Free skin screening (average fee charged by dermatologists' offices for a skin screening).
  • $800 = Melanoma costs over $800 million to treat annually.

Check out my fundraising page and please consider making a donation to help me reach my goal of [Your Fundraiser's Goal Will Automatically Go Here].

Giving online is secure and easy. Even if you can't help with a donation today, please keep Jack's Team in your thoughts as we run the streets and bridges of New York in November.
