Racing Against Melanoma: Join the Fight
Dear Friends and Family:
I’m running the 2023 New York Marathon to help fight melanoma. As some of you may know, my mom was diagnosed with Stage 3 melanoma last summer. She was fortunate enough to be selected to participate in a clinical trial that has surrounded her with the best research and doctors who have given her the opportunity to be cancer free today!
My family has seen the impact of organizations like Jack’s Fund first-hand. I’m excited to be joining the fight alongside my mom and thousands of people diagnosed with melanoma each year.
That's why I decided to make my marathon more meaningful and support Jack's Fund.
If you or someone you know has had precancerous cells removed or have experienced a melanoma diagnosis, you already know how important it is. If you have been fortunate so far, let me explain why Jack's Fund needs your donation.
1. Early detection saves lives. Melanoma can form anywhere (eyes, lips, under nails, ears, between toes, in your mouth).
2. Melanoma is the second most common cancer for young adults ages 15-29.
3. The risk of being diagnosed with melanoma doubles with five or more sunburns at any age and exposure to tanning beds in youth increases that risk by 75%. College campuses are being target by the tanning industry and need to be stopped.
4. Limit UV exposure outside during 10am-3pm: seek shade, wear sunscreen, sunglasses, hats.
I appreciate your support! :)
